The British player made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions this season because of a health issue she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting next year's training.

Those preparations are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the deciding set against Zhu because of a lower back issue that has affected her at times this year.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

She secured 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
