Hospitals in Gaza have said that Israeli strikes killed at least 12 Palestinians on the weekend, marking one of the deadliest incidents following a fall truce deal designed to stopping the conflict.

Details of the Attacks

The missiles hit locations in northern and southern Gaza, such as an apartment building in Gaza City and a tent in Khan Younis, as stated by officials at hospitals which received the victims. Among the dead were several women and minors from separate households.

Warplanes conducted further strikes, with forces issuing an alert to leave for a building in Khan Younis, in anticipation of an attack.

Mounting Toll Amid Truce Efforts

The strikes came a day before a border crossing is expected to open in Gaza’s south, a stark indication that the fatalities is continuing to climb even as a ceasefire agreement inches forward.

Every border crossings have been closed since the onset of the war, and Palestinians see the Rafah crossing with Egypt as a crucial conduit for the many thousands in need of treatment beyond the territory because most of its medical infrastructure has been devastated by aerial assaults.

Israel wants to ensure that the number of people exiting exceeds those entering, as per reports, which indicated Israel is aiming to allow only a limited number into Gaza through Rafah each day.

Medical Center Accounts

Shifa hospital said an Israel’s strike on Gaza City fatally wounded a mother, three children and one of their relatives on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Nasser hospital said a hit in a tent camp sparked a blaze, claiming seven, among them a man, his three children and three grandchildren.

Health authorities have documented more than 500 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire since the beginning of the ceasefire on a date in October.

The armed forces did not immediately respond to inquiries about the incidents.

Ceasefire Deal and Future Vision

In spite of repeated lethal incidents involving Palestinians breaching the autumn truce, the deal has entered a crucial next stage. The most difficult points are contained in this stage, which would require the governing authority to disarm and hand over power to a newly-appointed Board of Peace organisation.

A recently outlined vision presented a blueprint for “developing Gaza”, featuring sleek skyscrapers and waterfront promenades along the Mediterranean.

Context of Destruction

Most of Gaza has been levelled and essential services remains non-functional as a consequence of Israeli bombing over the recent period, which has also killed more than seventy thousand people. Last year, a UN commission of inquiry determined that Israel had committed a crime against humanity in Gaza.
