A female thought to be passed away and on the verge of incineration at a Buddhist temple in the outskirts of Bangkok has been discovered alive by monastery workers.

The temple's general manager the manager stated he was "startled" to detect a faint knock emanating from the casket, he told media outlets.

Mr Soodthoop said he asked for the coffin to be opened and observed her "blinking her eyes and tapping against the wall of the coffin". "The woman must have been tapping for a while," he added.

Her brother of the 65-year-old woman stated local officials had informed him his sister had died. Nevertheless, the monastery's administrator explained the relative lacked a death certificate.

As the manager tried to explain to the brother how to obtain a death certificate, monastery personnel heard a soft knock coming from within the casket.

After it became clear the lady was alive, the monastery's head monk stated the patient should be transported to medical facility immediately.

The doctor subsequently confirmed that the patient had been experiencing severe hypoglycaemia - a condition where glucose levels get critically low, regional accounts indicated.

This doctor discounted the chance that she had suffered respiratory failure or cardiac arrest, according to the accounts.

The younger brother stated his sister had been bedridden for the last two years and as her condition deteriorated she appeared to have stopped breathing on the weekend, as per the monastery's manager.

Her family had travelled from the province of northern Thailand in the country for the cremation ceremony, making a nearly 500km journey.
