The Madrid giants winger Vinicius Jr has apologised to the fanbase for his reaction when taken off in Sunday's fiery El Clasico triumph.

The Brazilian was replaced in the second half and displayed his frustration by walking immediately off the pitch.

Vinicius eventually reappeared to the bench and, following his club's 2-1 win, sought to engage Barcelona's youngster Yamal during unpleasant after the game incidents.

"This day I want to apologise to all the Madridistas for my response when I was replaced in the Clasico," the player shared on X.

"In the same way as I have said in person during this morning's session, I also want to apologise again to my teammates, the organization, and the leadership.

"Occasionally fervor overcomes me because I always want to succeed and assist my club. My competitive character comes from the passion I feel for this club and all it symbolizes."

Vinicius moved to the Spanish capital from Brazil in the year 2018 for millions and has notched 111 goals in more than 300 games.

But his career in the Spanish capital is uncertain with reports in recent months indicating that Los Blancos would consider permitting the young star move on if they got a appropriate bid.
