The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Updates Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Stories One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
